Croatia at a Glance

Looking at visiting Croatia? Here are my top things you should know...

Croatia is located in central and southeast Europe, situated on the Adriatic coast. It is bordered by several countries including Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Slovenia.

With over 1,200 islands along its coastline and pretty historic towns, Croatia is now seen as a top European holiday destination! As well as its Mediterranean weather and clear seas, the mainland has incredible national parks - think cascading waterfalls and bright turquoise lakes.

Top Travel Information for Croatia

Here's all my other top travel information for Croatia:

  • Currency: Croatian Kuna (kn) - Croatia is a member of the EU but has their own currency of the Kuna, rather than using the Euro. If you're traveling through other European countries to Croatia, then remember you will need different currencies!
  • Plug Adapters: The plugs in Croatia are the 2-pin system, like most of central Europe. Don't forget your plug adapters if you're traveling to Croatia from the UK!
  • Visas: Visas are not required by any EU/EEA nationals, regardless of the purpose or length of stay. Australian, Canadian and US nationals can stay for up to 90 days without a visa. If traveling to Croatia from outside Europe then check your visa requirements with your embassy.  More information on visa requirements for visiting Croatia here.
