Our Favourite Eco-Friendly Products!

As we are currently trying to live a more eco-friendly, plastic-free life, we thought we'd share some of our favourite products!

Just Bottle Co Reusable water bottle

1. Reusable Water Bottle

Number one would have to be my reusable water bottles from Just Bottle! We literally don’t go anywhere without them.

I (Helen) used to be embarrassed to ask cafes or restaurants to refill my water bottle, but in 2019 I took part in the Marine Conservation Society’s plastic challenge and just realised how silly it is to keep buying bottles of water - not only in terms of the huge amount of plastic waste but actually that it’s a waste of money too!

Just Bottle also supports Just One Ocean - making a contribution with every bottle sold.

Use our following special code at Just Bottle for a 10% discount!

We also use the Refill app which shows you free drinking water stations that you can use. From our travels around Asia, we realised how lucky we are here in the UK to have FREE clean drinking water - It’s crazy to think that people don’t make the most of it.

2. Reusable Travel Coffee Cup

We both LOVE coffee so a reusable travel coffee cup is another must-have for us! And just like reusable water bottles, there are loads of choice out there on the market. But for us, our go-to is Circular and Co's reusable coffee cup.

Circular and Co collect waste from UK centres, which they then recycle to make their cups right here in England - or Cornwall to be exact! But the other reason we love their coffee cups is that they are they are 100% leak proof and insulated to keep our coffee nice and hot.

We both opted for their larger 12oz sized coffee cups, but they do also a slightly smaller 8oz sized coffee cup.

Lush solid toiletry bars

3. Solid Toiletry Bars

Next would be my solid toiletry bars of shampoo, conditioner, face wash etc from Lush. My all-time favourites include ‘Honey I washed my hair’ shampoo bar and ‘ultrabland’ facial cleanser. Although the cleanser comes in a plastic tub, they are made from 100% recycled materials and can be returned to any Lush store to be reused. You can read more about their recycling scheme online here.

In addition to these products being environmentally friendly and not tested on animals, in terms of travelling - they’re perfect! As they’re not liquids, you don’t have to worry about carrying them in your hand luggage when flying. I just have a few of these small metal tins that I use to transport my solid bars in.

4. Reusable cotton cloth or pads

I also now use a reusable cotton cloth to remove my make-up, and would 100% recommend ditching those make-up remover wipes or disposable cotton wool pads - not only do they take up more room in your luggage but they aren’t good for the environment either.

5. Beeswax Food Wrap

We stopped buying plastic food bags or cling film, and decided to switch to using reusable beeswax food wraps. They are really easy to use to cover or wrap food, and are washable so you can clean them and keep using them!

Reusable Shopper Bags

6. Reusable Shopping Bag

Another would have to be a reusable cotton tote bag. I always have at least one on me in my bag just in case I buy something when I’m out and about. They're so handy to have, especially since plastic shopping bags are now an additional cost when shopping here in the UK .

Pela Phone Case

6. Pela Phone Case

With a new phone comes a fresh phone case, but trying to find one that is environmentally-friendly and still pretty to look at isn't always the easiest of tasks!

And then I heard about Pela Phone Case - world's first compostable phone case! Not only are their phone cases environmentally-friendly, but they also offer a huge range of beautiful designs and for lots of different phone models.

8. Recyclable Electric Tooth Brush Heads

Even though bamboo toothbrushes are the in sustainable option these days, I do still love my electric tooth brush. And although the main part of my electric tooth brush will last for years, the replaceable tooth brush heads do not. Therefore I looked for a recyclable option and came across Live Coco who have created toothbrush heads which you can send back them to be recycled!

Their recyclable toothbrush heads are also compatible with any Oral-B or Braun electric toothbrush that is supplied with a circular brush head.
